Life Is A Wild Ride (on a train)


If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to fall in love on the move, Ruthie and Thomas’ engagement session was the perfect blend of romance, adventure, and meaningful moments—all set in the heart of Carbon County, Pennsylvania. As a NEPA Wedding Photographer, sessions like this one light me up: storytelling, authenticity, and locations that carry personal significance. From the scenic ride on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway to the warmth of Muggle’s Mug and the playful energy of the Lehighton Fire Station, this Jim Thorpe engagement session was nothing short of magic.


A Love That Grew Effortlessly

Ruthie and Thomas met in the kind of casual way that usually turns into something fleeting—but for them, it clicked. They both felt an ease in each other’s presence, the kind that doesn’t need much explaining. That connection has only grown deeper, and as they prepare for their Fall 2025 wedding, their engagement session was a beautiful reflection of everything they are: adventurous, grounded, and full of heart.


All Aboard the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway

We started the day with train tickets in hand, boarding the dome car of the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. If you’ve never experienced this part of Carbon County before, picture this: vintage train cars winding through lush trees, breezing across historic bridges, and sunlight pouring through panoramic windows with views that stretch over the canopy.


Our car host was incredible, even suggesting a few secret spots between train cars—like leaning out gently to feel the wind as the train cruised through the forest. Ruthie and Thomas soaked up every moment, sharing quiet laughs and glances that said more than words ever could.


This was not your traditional engagement shoot. And that’s what made it unforgettable.


Coffee & Magic in Downtown Jim Thorpe

After stepping off the train, we wandered through charming downtown Jim Thorpe. Cobblestone streets, old brick buildings, and the energy of a town that feels like stepping back in time—it was the perfect backdrop to slow down and capture some cozy, intimate moments.


Of course, we had to stop at Muggle’s Mug, a local Harry Potter-themed café that’s as quirky as it is comforting. Lattes in hand, Ruthie and Thomas tucked into a corner with smiles that said, we’re home here. (If you’re looking for a unique engagement session in NEPA, this café deserves a spot on your list!)


From Romance to Rescue—Firehouse Fun in Lehighton

Next stop: the Lehighton Fire Station, where Thomas proudly serves as a firefighter. This space held so much meaning for both of them—it’s where Thomas gives back to the community, and where Ruthie supports him wholeheartedly. We wrapped up the session by climbing on fire trucks, playing around with gear, and embracing the fun, firecracker energy between them.


These moments weren’t just about pictures. They were about storytelling. About celebrating who they are together, and the little pockets of their life that mean the most.
